What are concrete slabs?

A concrete slab is a common structural element in buildings. It is a large flat, horizontal concrete surface usually used as an area for flooring or as a roof. Concrete slabs that are placed on the soil directly or on support foundations, are used to create the floor of some residential structures.

Our Concrete Slab Installation Process

Concrete installations can be difficult when you don't have the experience and experience required for it. Port St. Lucie Concrete Contractors employs a strict concrete slab construction process that strictly follows local codes as well as industry standards.

In all of our concrete construction projects the safety of our customers is a paramount concern. Before any project is started, we make sure to have the right safety equipment. Eye protection is a must, as are long sleeves, long trousers rubber gloves, and boots. All of these safeguards protect us from concrete splashes which could harm our overall health and well-being.

These steps are followed as well.

Step 1: Onsite Preparation

We follow the exact process no matter what size concrete slab we're working on. In all cases, we make sure the site is prepared. To get started clean up any debris and clean up the site. In the process of preparing the materials should be at the site. We plan for the arrival of the materials before we start the actual work. This allows us the ability to begin and finish the project on-time.

Step 2: Reinforce concrete slab with steel and build concrete forms

After the site is cleaned and ready, we move on with the construction of concrete forms using wire mesh. Concrete forms are strong barriers that hold the concrete mixture in place. Concrete forms can also force concrete mix to adopt a particular shape or style. Rebar is used to reinforce concrete structures that are larger. This ensures concrete surfaces that are more sturdy.

Step 3: Mixing Concrete Mix

To facilitate the process, we use the concrete truck. It ensures that concrete materials are mixed properly. Sometimes, we do manual mixing. For the majority of projects the use of a concrete mixer is likely to be needed.

Step 4: Pouring Concrete

After mixing the concrete, we pour the concrete into the forms. We do it carefully when pouring the concrete mix in order to prevent creating air pockets. Air pockets arise from the mortar not being placed around the aggregate. When pouring concrete, we make sure we distribute the mix evenly across the form - never missing one spot.
